Dr Brian Meade - Colorectal Surgeon

Dr Brian Meade is a specialist colorectal surgeon at North West Private Hospital, The Wesley Hospital, and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland. 

 

He offers a service encompassing all aspects of colorectal surgery, of which surgical oncology is a special interest. His operative practice comprises predominantly of laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery and also includes peritonectomy and cytoreductive surgery. 

 

He is supported by professional and helpful reception staff and experienced Colorectal Practice Nurses.

 

Dr Meade grew up in South-East Queensland. He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1995 and was awarded  Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship in General Surgery in 2005.

 

He completed a research fellowship at the North Hants Hospital, Basingstoke, in the United Kingdom in 2004. There he trained under Professor Heald, the pioneer of current techniques in rectal cancer surgery, and gained extensive experience in peritonectomy and cytoreduction surgery under the mentorship of Dr Moran.  Dr Meade also operated with Dr Sugarbaker, the leading surgeon in the treatment of patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei, in Washington DC, USA.

 

Dr Meade completed sub-speciality training in colorectal surgery in 2007. This included extensive laparoscopic experience at both the Royal Alfred Hospital in Sydney and locally in Brisbane. 

 

He was director of the Colorectal Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital from 2007 - 2013.

 

Dr Meade is a member of the Royal Australiasian College of Surgeons (RACS), the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), the Gastroenterological Society of Queensland (GESQ), and the Australasian Gastro-Intenstinal Trials Group (AGITG).
